She can’t quite place it. She has been an artist for almost 20 years now but this modality never appeared until 2013. That year, a trip to Europe led to her first photographic series, “31 Blocks”. 31 images from Europe of angles and the unnoticed, transferred from standard copy paper to wood blocks.

Now, Jacqui M. Merhaut has become passionately connected to her late Grandfather's
Zeiss Ikon SuperIkonta from the late 1940’s. Through her use of his camera, she creates with his spirit.

All pictures are made using analog processes. Her work dances with the cinematic parts of life and the illustration of humanity in ways we often will not see. A smoke stack, a sconce and a sticker all have their individual stories to share.

For Jacqui, black and white photography places the story in the hands of the viewer. A connection is created that is uniquely different to each person coming upon her work.

Next phases include portraiture, inclusion of all human forms, use of meditation to connect with the subject and the documentation and education of how alive social division is today.
